The Liberal Faction
Liberal adj. 1. favorable to progress or reform as in religious or political affairs. 2. favorable to or in accord with concepts of maximum individual freedom possible. 3. free from prejudice or bigotry; tolerant.
- Democratic National Committee- Historically conservative, later composed of conservative, liberal, moderate factions. Party leaders moved the party into the liberal faction in the mid twentieth century. Composed primarily by moderates then liberals.
- Green Party- Founded in 2001 as a single issue ecology party, the party promotes progressive politics.
- Bishop John Shelby Spong- Controversial Episcopal bishop that supports the ordination of homosexuals, same sex blessings and a new reformation of his design for the Episcopal church. The author of several critical books on religion and participant in a liberally religious informational media franchise.
- Pete Seeger- Anti-war, pro-labor, pro-civil rights folk musician of the 40's,50's, 60's and today.
- Episcopal Church USA- Practises ordination of women and homosexuals, same sex blessings, diverse beliefs.
- Citizens for a United Michigan- A body of several organizations working together to defeat the Michigan anti-affirmative action inititive of November 2006.
- Lambda Legal- National organization committed to achieving full recognition of the civil rights of lesbians, gay men, bisexuals, transgender people and those with HIV through impact litigation, education and public policy work.
- Ontario Consultants on Religious Tolerance- Website dedicated to promoting religious tolerance and freedom, describing religious faiths in all their diversity and describing controversial topics from all points of view
